NEW DELHI: The minister of railways, Ashwini Vaishnav assured that Kerala's dream of Vandhe Bharth trains will soon be a reality. The minister while addressing the parliament also shed light on the Rs 2033 crore allotted by the railways for overhauling developments in Kerala. The money will be put to use for revamping the stations in Kerala along with track doubling.
The long-yearned Angamaly Sabari rail track also got the nod from the central government. The 116 km long track has been allotted a Rs 100 crore budget. Meanwhile, the Trivandrum-Kanyakumari track doubling will get Rs 808 crores of funds.
Along with this, 34 stations in Kerala will get revamped adopting a cultural touch to hail the serene heritage of Kerala. The minister also assured that in three years' time, all trains will be replaced with new coaches. When questioned about the K-rail project, the Railways minister said he will discuss the essentials with the chief minister and for this, he will be visiting Kerala soon.
