ALLEPPEY: Police arrested the suitors who pretended to be a couple and came for housework. The Arthunkal Police of Alappuzha arrested the accused. Jijo (38), a native of Kottayam, and Suja Binoy (43) of Kottayam Mundakkayam were arrested. They were working in Thottapally House at Chethy owned by Shiji Jinesh, a native of Ernakulam. They stole and sold items worth Rs 5,32,500 including a gold necklace, gas cylinders, an iron gate, the stepney tire of a vehicle, three laptops, utensils, textiles, and carpets.

An advertisement was placed in the newspaper looking for someone to take care of Shiji's mother-in-law and do housework. Seeing this, Jijo and Suja, who are married with children, entered the work on the pretext that they were a couple. They started living there in November 2021. When Shiji's husband, who was working abroad, came home for his daughter's wedding and other stuff, he discovered the loss of the gold and goods. It is indicated that the accused used the proceeds from the theft for family needs and to buy a scooter. The police have seized stolen gold from private financiers in Mararikulam.
