Mother and daughter killed in car-auto collision

MEPPADI: A mother and daughter were killed in a collision between a car and an autorickshaw in Wayanad. The deceased are Mariyakutty (70), wife of deceased Mathayi, and daughter Molly (54), wife of Karachal native Baby. The incident took place near Muppainad junction at around 5.30 pm on Sunday. A car carrying natives of Tamil Nadu and two autorickshaws collided. The passengers of the autorickshaw died. Two people were admitted to a private medical college in Meppadi with serious injuries. Autorickshaw driver Khalid (50), a native of Kozhikode Puthupaddi, and car driver Purushothaman (26), a native of Tamil Nadu, are undergoing treatment.

Lathish (38), the driver of another autorickshaw escaped unhurt. The natives of Tamil Nadu came to Wayanad for tourism. According to sources, the car went out of control and rammed into the autorickshaw. Mariyakutty and her daughter Molly were returning from a relative's house in Kozhikode.
