Armed Maoists spotted in Wayanad, steals food items from house; police begins probe

KALPETTA: The locals revealed that Maoists have arrived with weapons in Wayanad. An armed group of Maoists arrived in Padinjarethara in Wayanad. The Maoists reached the tribal colony near Kapikkulam Kuttiyamvayal and entered the houses and looted the food items. The police registered a case and started an investigation into the incident that took place on February 28.

Housewife Geeta told the police that a man and a woman came with guns. According to the complaint filed by the her with the Padinjarethara police, the Maoists tried to beat her up and stole the food items from the kitchen. The Maoists looted the groceries and children's food from the kitchen. The police registered a case under the Arms Act under the UAPA in the incident. The officers also inspected the place.
