dd

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It has been alleged that there has been faults in the construction of 40 street hawking and roadside food booths in the Museum RKV Road. The shutters and the roof are made of poor-quality materials. The vendors here states that the sheds which was there earlier, were stronger than this. The Corporation found that the Smart City, which was supposed to conduct inspection during construction, had failed to do so. Iron shutters have been replaced by lightweight PVC shutters. Pointing out the irregularities, the traders approached the Corporation with a complaint. The Mayor then directed Smart City to investigate the complaint. Subsequent inspections confirmed these faults.

Smart City completed the construction work by giving a contract. During the construction, Smart City said that the contractor was not willing to replace the PVC shutters with iron ones. Rs 1.7 crore was spent for construction. Lakhs are needed to solve the defects.
