Man sets fire to fellow passengers in train near Kozhikode, eight people suffer burns

KOZHIKODE: In a shocking incident, a passenger set fire to fellow passengers in the coach D1 of Alappuzha-Kannur Express train. The initial information is that there was a fight between the passengers and after that one person poured petrol and set the fellow passenger on fire. The incident took place at Elathur in Kozhikode. As per reports, eight people, including women, suffered burns.

The police have admitted the injured to the Kozhikode Medical College. The seriously injured passenger named Prince is in Baby Memorial Hospital. Anil Kumar, a native of Thalassery, his wife Sajisha, son Advaith, Thaliparambu native Ruby, and Thrissur native Aswathy were also injured.

Locals said that the person who started the fire stopped the train by pulling the chain and escaped. The train was shifted to Koyilandi station.
