PANAJI: S Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs held a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, and issues including the Ladakh border standoff were discussed. The talks between the two leaders took place after Qin Gang arrived in Goa to attend the Shanghai Corporation Organization summit.
Jaishankar tweeted that he had a conversation with the Chinese Foreign Minister regarding bilateral relations and focus on ensuring peace in the border areas.
"A detailed discussion with State Councillor and FM Qin Gang of China on our bilateral relationship. Focus remains on resolving outstanding issues and ensuring peace and tranquillity in the border areas.
Also discussed SCO, G20 and BRICS.", he tweeted.
This is the second time in two months that the two foreign ministers are holding talks. Talks were held with Gang and Jaishankar even when the ministers arrived to attend the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting. Jaishankar also held discussions with the Russian Foreign Minister. Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto has also reached Goa to attend the meeting.
