THRISSUR: A 26-year-old woman was killed and the body was dumped in Thumboormuzhi forest in Athirappilly. The victim is Athira, wife of Sanal of Parakkadavu in Angamaly. The police have arrested her friend Akhil. The accused told police that he strangled her to death with a shawl. Reports said that her body was chopped into pieces.

Athira asked Akhil to return the money he had borrowed and this may have led to the murder. Athira is a sales girl in a supermarket. Akhil is also an employee of the same supermarket. She went missing since April 29. Following that, her husband lodged a complaint with the Kalady police.

An investigation focusing on the phone number found that Athira had called Akhil several times. He confessed to the crime when he was interrogated. Based on the youth’s statement, the police conducted a search in Thumboormuzhi forest.
