Thief caught by locals during robbery attempt at temple

VELLARADA: A thief was caught by the locals during robbery at a temple. John, a native of Uchakada, was caught while trying to break open the shrine of Muriyathottam Sreekandan Sastha temple in Karakonam. On Friday night around 12.10 am, when the locals arrived after hearing noises from inside the temple, they found the lock inside the shrine was broken.

Then the lock of the nearby sub-temple was also found broken. Locals arrived and caught the thief. The chilambu in temple was stolen last year. The thief was handed over to the Vellarada police. The police said that he is also accused in other theft cases.
