New block in Kottarakara Taluk Hospital named in honor of Vandana Das; Minister Veena George orders fast action

KOLLAM: The new block in Kottarakara taluk hospital will be named in honor of late doctor Vandana Das. It was yesterday morning at 4:30 am that Vandana was attacked by a convict who came under a police escort. With 11 piercing bruises on her neck, Vandana succumbed to injuries and turned a martyr in no time.

The health minister has ordered the department director to proceed with the move.

Yesterday after the shocking death of the doctor, health minister Veena George ran into trouble for her statement that went off kilter. Protest emanated from all quarters asking the minister to apologize. The minister late into yesterday evening reached Vandana’s home and was seen in tears with eyes fixed on the coffin. Veena George later rushed back to the official vehicle under heavy police protection.
