NEW DELHI: Wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar said that not even a single BJP woman leader who speaks about the upliftment of girls has called to show support. The reaction of the players came after the strike demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan, the president of the wrestling federation, crossed 20 days. The wrestlers informed that not a single woman leader who raised the slogan of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao has called them.
National wrestlers who are part of the strike said that they will send a letter requesting the intervention of BJP women MPs including Nirmala Sitharaman and Smriti Irani. The players also demanded that the government officials who support the strike should protest in front of the office on the 16th.
Last day, the wrestlers wore black badges on the stage. They stated that this was a part of observing Black Day. The sports stars appealed to the people of the country to support them in the strike on Black Day. They were also requested to tag them on social media and announce support to them.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police recorded the statement of wrestling federation president Brij Bhushan who is the accused. Brij Bhushan denied the sexual assault complaints against him. The police have also recorded the statement of Vinod Tomar, assistant secretary of the wrestling federation.
