KANNUR: Yet another controversial remarks by Thalassery Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany. He alleged that political martyrs are the ones who fought with people unnecessarily. Pamplany said some of them fell off the bridge and died when they were chased by the police during demonstrations. Pamplany’s remarks were made at the KCYM celebrations at Cherupuzha in Kannur.

‘12 disciples of Jesus were martyred for truth and justice. However, the political martyrs of the new age were not martyred for justice. It happened when they went to quarrel unnecessarily with the person you see. The youth of the state is facing a big crisis. The youths are leaving the state en masse due to the actions of those who rule Kerala,’ he said.

Pamplany’s statement that he would support BJP if rubber is made at Rs 300 had courted controversy earlier. However, he later responded to the criticism connecting BJP. Pamplany rejected that the critics had weaponized Vicharadhara. He said there are people in many ideologies and religions who see Christians as opponents. These are all things asserted in each situation. Pamplany said the public has the intellectual maturity to understand those situations.
