THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The bus owners informed that they will not call off the strike announced from June 7. The minister's talks held with the bus owners in connection with the strike failed. The bus owners alleged that the minister did not give a definite answer to the demands put forward by them during the talks and only said that it would be considered.

The bus owners announced the strike demanding the student concession be made Rs 5, the concession rate should be 50 percent of the ticket, age limit should be fixed for the concession and limited stop permit should be maintained. The bus owners joint strike committee announcement the strike.

Meantime, Transport Minister Antony Raju dismissed the private bus strike. He said the strike cannot be justified in any way. There are also allegations that the bus owners' decision to stage a strike at the start of the academic year is a move to put pressure on the government.
