ALAPPUZHA: A septuagenarian worker who got trapped inside a well near Chenganoor in Kerala for a long 11 hours died late into the night. The Fireforce's tireless work resulted in Kodukulanji native Yohannan seeing Daylight again but the help went in vain as Yohannan succumbed to the injuries. Yohannan was unconscious when brought out from the well. The locals joined the Fireforce to help while the forces supplied oxygen inside the well for two hours running.

Yohannan reached one home in Chengannur to clean the creepers and greens growing inside the well. The owner minding the approaching monsoon decided to clear the well and gave Yohannan the duty. However, at 9 am, the rings on the top of the well slipped downwards trapping Yohannan inside the depth. Yohannan shifted sides but two rings sadly got into his legs trapping him with no movements. Yohannan then gave out a cry which alerted the locals and the owner. Initially, the locals came up with some measures to help the aged man but failed to work it out. JCB was brought in to lift the rings from the well thus making it possible for Yohannan to come out of the mess.
