Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice Antony Dominic retires

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice Antony Dominic has retired after completing his five-year tenure.

After studying law at SDM Law College, Mangalore, Justice Antony Dominic started practicing as an advocate in the Kanjirapalli Magistrate's Court in 1981 and started practicing in the Kerala High Court in 1986. With decades of legal experience in constitutional, company and labor laws, he became a judge in the Kerala High Court in 2007.
The orders passed by Justice Antony Dominic, including in Nedumkandam custodial death case, were implemented by the government. His suggestions to streamline the functioning of Peroorkada Mental Health Center were also implemented. It was through the intervention of Justice Antony Dominic that the method of police stopping vehicles on the road for checking came under control.

It was Justice Antony Dominic's order which amended the rule that the fee paid at the time of admission is non-refundable when students of self-financing colleges transfer to the college. Commission Judicial Member K Baijunath, Member VK Beenakumari, Secretary SH Jayakesan and DGP Tomin J Thachankari spoke at the farewell function.
