Man, son drown in pond while bathing

KANNUR: A man and his son drowned in the pond while bathing. The 14-year-old boy drowned yesterday and his father died today while undergoing treatment. The dead is P Rajesh, a native of Aroli. His son Rangeeth Raj drowned last afternoon. The accident happened while Rangeeth was bathing in the pond with his father in Edayannur, Kannur. Rajesh, who drowned was in a critical condition. The two were taking a bath while going to the Ilaneervaippu function which is a part of the Kottiyoor festival.

The locals searched in the pond after noticing chain and clothes on the bank of the pond. By the time they fished out Rangeeth Raj, he had died. Rajesh was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kannur. Rajesh was an auto driver in Keechery. Rangeeth was a ninth standard student of Aroli Government Higher Secondary School.
