NEW DELHI: Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri spoke about whether the price of fossil fuels will be reduced in the country. Addressing the media, he said that this is possible if oil prices remain unchanged at the international level and the country's oil companies achieve better results in the next quarter. Rumours of lowering petrol and diesel prices in the country were rife as oil companies recouped their losses.

“As we go along we will see what can be done. They have recovered some of their losses. They have been very good corporate citizens. As we go along we will see what can be done," he said.

But he also clarified that it is not possible to make an announcement about reducing fuel prices in the country in the current situation.

At the same time, the minister also spoke about the steps taken by the central government to prevent an increase in oil prices from 2022. He also mentioned that the assurance given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that there will be no increase in oil prices has been kept.
