THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kanthapuram AP Abubakar Musliyar wants the state government to give a holiday for Bakrid on the 29th. Eid al-Adha is celebrated on the 29th but currently, the holiday is given on the 28th. He stated that he has requested the Chief Minister through a letter to extend the holiday by one more day because of this.

Feast of Sacrifice will be celebrated on June 28 in countries including Saudi and Oman and on the 29th in other countries including India.
The message of the Feast of Sacrifice is sacrifice and self-sacrifice. The day of celebration is also known as Eid-ul-Adha and Bakrid. Eid al-Adha is celebrated as a reminder of Hazrat Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail according to God's command in a dream.

Hajj, one of the five pious acts in Islam, is performed on this day. The Feast of Sacrifice is celebrated on the tenth day of the month of Dhu al-Hijja in the Islamic calendar. The main event of the Hajj, the meeting of Arafa, is held on the ninth day of the month of Dhu al-Hijja. The Hajj ends with Bakrid. The Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah is performed from the eighth to the twelfth of the month of Dhu al-Hijja.
