KOCHI: The police took into custody Nizar Mether, PDP state general secretary, for sending lewd messages to a journalist. The Kadavantra police registered a case against him under the charges of using obscene language and online abuse. The journalist lodged a complaint with the police after receiving constant messages in the middle of the night and early morning.
Mether was entrusted to inform the media about the health condition of PDP chairman Abdul Nazar Maudany, who is in the hospital. The journalist contacted Mether to know about Maudany’s health. He started sending lewd messages after this. She warned him but he continued sending messages. She later lodged a complaint. Screen shots of his messages have also surfaced.
Maudany, who was released on bail and reached the Nedumbassery airport, developed uneasiness on the way to Kollam Anvarsseri and was admitted to the Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital.
