THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Cabinet meeting expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. The cabinet meeting condoled that he was notable as a leader who paid attention to people's welfare and state development and as a leader of the opposition who skillfully raised public issues.

The Cabinet expresses deep sorrow at the demise of Shri Oommen Chandy, former Chief Minister and MLA representing Puthuppally Constituency currently. Condolences to all his loved ones.
At this juncture, this Cabinet meeting respectfully remembers Chandy's contribution to Kerala. There are high personalities who cannot be measured by the positions they held. The position of Oommen Chandy who was the leader of the people, is among them. Chandy, who came to Congress through KSU and worked in the leadership of that party, in the government and in the opposition, played a major role in taking the democratic process forward.
He was noted as a leader who focused on people's welfare and state development, and as a leader of the opposition who skillfully raised people's issues. Shri Oommen Chandy, who came to the Legislative Assembly from Puthuppally Constituency in 1970, continued to represent the same constituency forever.
He holds a record of being an MLA for 53 consecutive years, that too from the same constituency and never losing. He won twelve times in a row. His contributions as Minister of important departments like Finance and Home Affairs and as Chief Minister are memorable. His political work as UDF convener is also memorable.
Assembly session from August 7
It has been decided to recommend to the governor to convene the ninth session of the fifteenth Kerala Legislative Assembly from August 7.
Pay Revision
It has been decided to grant the 7th Central Pay Revision to the Science Department staff of the Institute of Advanced Virology. 11th Pay Revision as per State Government Order dated 10.02.2021 for Administrative/ Technical employees will also be allowed subject to conditions.
11th Pay Revision benefits will be granted subject to conditions to the employees working in government approved permanent posts under the Kerala Handicraft Skilled Workers Welfare Scheme who have become employees of Kerala Unorganized Workers Social Security Board.
