Plus Two student hangs herself after informing boyfriend over phone

THIRUVALLA: A Plus Two student committed suicide inside her house after informing her boyfriend over the phone. The deceased has been identified as Aparna Ramesh (17), daughter of Ramesh and Ambili of Peringol. In connection with the incident, the police have taken her friend Javed (21), a native of Vaipur, into custody.

The incident occurred yesterday around 3 pm, after Aparna returned home following her model examination at school. According to reports, she had called Javed and told him about her intention to commit suicide. Javed then rushed to her house on a scooter. He cut the shawl and carried her out, at which point neighbours became aware of the incident. Although she was rushed to the Thiruvalla Taluk Hospital, her life could not be saved.

Only Aparna’s grandmother was at home at the time of the incident. It is reported that Javed had earlier bought mobile phones for both Aparna and her brother. Following a dispute between them, Javed allegedly threw and broke Aparna’s phone at the Kavumbhagam junction yesterday afternoon and also demanded the return of the phone he had given to her brother. The girl’s death happened soon after this incident.
