KOZHIKODE: An ambulance carrying a patient got stuck after the police blocked the road traffic by setting up a barricade to stop the Youth Congress march. The ambulance got stuck in front of the barricade set up across the road, in front of Nallalam Police Station in Kozhikode. The police could not remove the barricade and the ambulance had to find an alternate route to reach the hospital.

The police set up the barricade against the Youth Congress march at 10 am today. When the ambulance driver arrived with the patient, they asked the policemen to remove the barricade. Those present also made the same demand to the police. However, after waiting for some time and with no resolution the ambulance had to turn back. Footage of this incident was later released.

The police claimed that there was an indication board to divert vehicles and the ambulance driver failed to notice it. They further explained that they attempted to untie the rope to allow the ambulance to pass but their efforts were in vain. Meanwhile, the ambulance took an alternative route via Olavanna-Kolathara road, which was longer. If the vehicle had gone through the road blocked by the police barricade, they would have reached the hospital in just ten minutes. However, due to the detour, it took extra time to reach the hospital. Fortunately, the 90-year-old woman who slipped in the washroom and was in the ambulance is now in satisfactory health condition.
