1800 special guests including farmers, khadi workers etc invited for Independence Day celebrations

NEW DELHI: The country is celebrating the 77th Independence Day tomorrow. 1800 distinguished guests will participate in the hoisting of the national flag function this time at the Red Fort, an important event of Independence Day. These guests range from common people to professionals who witness the hoisting of the national flag by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The union defence ministry said these 1,800 guests were invited on the basis of ' Jan Bhagidari’ (people's participation). The guests invited to attend the celebrations at Red Fort include over 400 village heads representing 660 vibrant villages; 250 farmers from farmer producer organisations scheme; 50 participants each of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. Also 50 construction workers of the central vista project, including the new parliament building; 50 each Khadi workers, those involved in the construction of border roads, making of Amrit Sarovar and Har Ghar Jal Yojana as well as 50 each primary school teachers, nurses and fishermen are also invited.

They will also visit the national war memorial in the national capital. Following the Independence Day celebrations, the entire national capital is decorated with tricolors. The national capital is under heavy security. The Prime Minister will hoist the tricolor flag at the Red Fort at 7.30 am.
