NEW DELHI: Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his remarks against Ambedkar. Rahul Gandhi said that Indian people will never forgive this mistake and Amit Shah should apologize. Congress is planning for nationwide protest marches following Amit Shah's remarks.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that the BJP, Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have committed a grave mistake by insulting Ambedkar. Rahul said that what is going on now is the battle between Manusmriti and the Constitution.
"It is written in the Constitution, prohibition of discrimination on grounds of race, caste, religion and place of birth. There is a battle taking place today in India. This side (pointing to his MPs) are the defenders of the idea of the Constitution," Rahul Gandhi said in his speech in Parliament.
Earlier, the Delhi Police had registered a case against Rahul Gandhi in connection with the clash outside Parliament. In the complaint, the BJP demanded that Rahul Gandhi be accused of behaving like a hooligan and assaulting MPs and to file a case for attempted murder. BJP has also accused Rahul of misbehaving with a woman member.
