BENGALURU: According to ISRO officials, all preparations for soft landing are complete and now, all eyes will tilt toward the clock as the space center expects the soft landing to start at 5:45 pm on Wednesday.

The lander will descend slowly on the south pole of the moon at 6:04 pm. It will be a grueling test for the lander to make a soft landing amidst a storm-like situation on the lunar surface. The engines should be ignited at the exact time and at the correct altitude to perfect the deceleration. The fuel should be miserly used in proper quantity. The lander will then be moving in horizontal and vertical directions. In the meantime, the lunar surface will be scanned to detect hills and pits that impede a soft landing.

Surviving the whirlwinds, ISRO expects the lander to do the soft landing exactly at 6:04 pm. India will then become the first country to reach the south pole of the moon. Even Space meisters including America, Russia, and China are yet to achieve this feat. After perfecting the soft landing, the rover will emerge from the lander and will roll across the lunar surface. It was just days back that Russian spacecraft Luna 25 crash-landed on the moon’s surface.
