Sabarigiri project area receives extremely heavy rain

PATHANAMTHITTA: There was a rainfall of 22.5 cm in the catchment areas of the Sabarigiri hydropower project in a single night on Friday. By early morning the rain had eased. KSEB officials informed that the water flow to the dams has increased due to heavy rains. The three shutters of Moozhiyar Dam, which were raised by thirty centimeters each on Friday night, were lowered at 1 am yesterday morning. Meanwhile, rains in the eastern region benefited the Aranmula boat race. After heavy rains, water flow increased to Moozhiyar, Kakki, Anathod and Kochupamba dams. The water level in Sabarigiri dams has increased by nearly one percent.

Landslide: Gavi isolated

The journey to Gavi was disrupted due to heavy rains on Friday night. Landslides occurred at three places between Kakki and Anathod. KSRTC informed that tourism package and ordinary services to Gavi have been suspended till tomorrow.
