Administrative machinery in Kerala is rusted: Thomas Isaac

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM central committee member and former finance minister Dr. T M Thomas Isaac has openly criticized that the administrative machinery in Kerala is not capable of effectively implementing big projects. In the article "Study Congresses and Administrative Reforms: An Overview" in Chintha Weekly, he criticized that projects are dragging on indefinitely.

'Our administrative machinery is getting rusty and is not people-friendly enough due to a lack of timely interventions. The functioning of industry promotion agencies is lagging behind in Kerala compared to other states. Regulatory departments are often anti-people. Kerala's administration is relatively less corrupt and committed in the country. There is a long history behind it. However, it is not sufficient to carry forward the activities of these modern days. Attempts are being made to impose privatization agendas on people's minds by pointing out such weaknesses of the administrative system. If the public sector and public institutions are to be preserved, the efficiency and popularity of the administrative machinery must be enhanced,' Thomas Isaac wrote.
