Body of doctor found in Kannammoola's Amayizhanchan canal, sedatives inside abandoned car

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The body of a general hospital doctor was found in Kannammoola Amayizhanchan canal. The deceased has been identified as Bipin, an anesthesia doctor. As per the preliminary assumption, the doctor committed suicide.

Locals saw the body in the canal around 2.30 pm and informed the police. His car was also found abandoned near the canal. A syringe and medicine were found inside the vehicle. The police concluded that he jumped into the canal to commit suicide after injecting the sedative.

The cause of death is unclear. Dr. Bipin had not come to the hospital for the past three days. Friends say he was being treated for depression. The body was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
