ALUVA: After the seizure of 14.340 grams of brown sugar valued at approximately one lakh rupees during an inspection conducted by the excise team at the railway station four individuals were arrested by the Aluva police with 3.4 kg of ganja during another inspection.
Abdul Hussain (29), a native of Assam was apprehended by the Aluva Excise Range team in connection with the brown sugar case.
The accused people confessed that their intention was to distribute brown sugar acquired from Bangalore to foreign workers and students in Aluva and Ernakulam.
Parakkaseri Akhil Soman (25), Mecheril Adil Yasin (20), Mecheril Muhammad Yasin (24) and Mullasheri Muhammad Ashiq (23) from Srimulanagaram were arrested by the District Narcotics Special Action Force and Aluva Police with approximately three and a half kilograms of ganja.
They had arrived in Aluva by train from Orissa. The ganja was purchased at 3000 rupees per kilogram and sold at 25000 rupees. They sold it in small packets to students and youth. The police stated that those arrested were habitual drug smugglers and sellers. The investigation is being conducted by Narcotic Cell Deputy Superintendent of Police P P Shams, Inspector M M Manjudas, Sub-Inspector S S Srilal and others.
