Rs 80,000 wasted in online rummy; Youth hangs to death in Idukki resort

IDUKKI: In despair over losing money in an online rummy game, a youth hanged himself to death in Idukki on Thursday. Kasaragod Vellarikundu native P K Rosh(23) is the deceased. Rosh was an employee in a resort located near Attukad waterfalls in Pallivasal. His colleagues found him hanging from a tree near the resort at 8:30 last night. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead.

According to other employees in the resort, Rosh was glued to online rummy games and used to play the game night and day. Rosh splashed a good amount of money into the online game, most of which he earned from work. He also borrowed huge sums of money from friends in the hope of reaping profits.

Rosh recently borrowed money from his friends after concocting lies about his sister’s 'critical disease'. Minding this, the employees at the resort and other friends offered him Rs 80,000 as help. It is doubted that Rosh spent all the money at the game and lost.

After completing the inquest, the body was shifted to Adimali Taluk Hospital for post-mortem.
