KOZHIKODE: Minister Veena George on Saturday said that Nipah is under control in the state. The minister was talking to the media after the Nipah review meeting. There are currently no new positive cases in the state. At the same time, five more people were admitted to the hospital, the minister said.
"The health worker who treated the last infected person has shown symptoms. It was found that 1192 people came in contact with her. There has been no second wave yet. This becomes clear upon examining more samples. It's a good thing there hasn't been a second wave till now. Test results for some with symptoms will be known by Saturday night. The results of 51 samples are yet to come. The nine-year-old remains on a ventilator. The child's health condition is improving," the minister said.
"The condition of three others under treatment is satisfactory. Two are asymptomatic. 26 people, including two children, are in isolation in the Medical College hospital. 22,208 houses in the containment zone were tested. Medical boards have come into existence in the hospitals where the patients are undergoing treatment," she added.
