Severe rain triggers landslides in Palakkad, Kanjirapuzha dam shuttered as water levels surge

PALAKKAD: Landslides have occurred in Kanjirapuzha, Palakkad where heavy rains continue. Shops and houses have been flooded. District Collector S Chitra stated that the village officer and the fire brigade had arrived at the scene and there was no need to worry. As the water level in Kanjirapuzha dam is rising, the collector advised people not to enter the river and to exercise caution.

Simultaneously, the district collector had previously informed that the gates of the Kanjirapuzha dam have been raised by 20 cm due to the rapidly rising water level. An alert has also been issued for those in the Kanjirapuzha, Nellippuzha, Kunthippuzha and Thuthappuzha areas.
