VARANASI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for a new international cricket stadium in his constituency. The new stadium will be constructed near the ring road in Rajatalab region. The government has spent 121 crores to acquire land for the new stadium. The construction cost is 330 crores. According to reports, the construction of the stadium will be completed by 2025. The stadium will have a seating capacity of more than 30,000 people. The gallery of the stadium will resemble the steps of the Ghats in Varanasi.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Ravi Shastri attended the foundation stone laying ceremony today. BCCI President Roger Binny, Vice President Rajeev Shukla and Secretary Jai Shah were also present. This is the third international cricket stadium in Uttar Pradesh. Others are located in Kanpur and Lucknow.
