THRISSUR: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday arrested Wadakkanchery municipality councilor P R Aravindakshan in the Karuvannur bank fraud case. Aravindakshan was taken into custody from Thrissur. He will be soon brought to Kochi.

ED had earlier questioned Aravindakshan six times. Aravindakshan had lodged a complaint alleging that the ED officers tortured him to give a false statement against EP Jayarajan, AC Moideen, and K Radhakrishnan. He also alleged that the ED officers manhandled him during questioning on September 12.

Aravindakshan has a close connection with Satheesh Kumar, the first accused in the case. Aravindakshan was a middleman in the money transactions. He is a local committee member of the CPM in Athani. It is indicated that the probe in the case will be expanded to top leaders of the CPM.
