THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rain played spoilsport again as the warm-up match scheduled between India and Netherlands was called off even before the start. Thiruvananthapuram has been seeing incessant rain for the past two days and the umpires and match officials decided to abandon the match not even waiting for the toss. A big crowd fought the rain to be at the stadium, to witness the Indian team perform. Alas, the fans had to walk out of the stadium dejected as the umpires decided to abandon the match due to unabated rain.

Saturday's ODI World Cup warm-up match between Australia and Netherlands could not be completed due to heavy rain. The World Cup starts on October 5. The first match is between England and New Zealand in Ahmedabad on October 5.

India's first match is against Australia in Chennai on 8th October. The celebrated India-Pakistan match is scheduled for the 15th.
