THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Now is the chance to convert ration cards to the priority category. The civil supplies department has informed that applications will be accepted online from October 10 to 20 from eligible candidates. The public can submit applications through Akshaya Kendras or through citizen login on the official website ww.civilsupplieskerala.gov.in. Applications for priority cards should be submitted along with the necessary documents.
Minister GR Anil informed that out of those who had already submitted their application for the priority card, 11,348 people were found to be eligible and have been granted priority cards after completing the procedures. The minister informed about this during the monthly phone-in program.
A total of 3,94,254 new cards have been issued so far, including 90,493 PHH (Pink) cards, 2,96,455 NPNS (White) cards and 7306 NPI (Brown) cards since the second Pinarayi government came to power. 3,22,952 priority cards, including 3,51,745 PHH cards and 28,793 AAY (yellow) cards, have been reclassified, the minister said.
From May 21, 2021 to August this year, 44,609 ration cards were seized from those using them illegally. An amount of Rs 5,21,48,697 was levied as a penalty. Minister GR Anil said that a fine of Rs 4,19,19,486 was collected as part of 'Operation Yellow'.
