VIZHINJAM: The first vessel, 'Zhen Hua 15" coming with the cranes for Vizhinjam International Port will be welcomed with a fountain. The fountain will be from the tugs specially positioned outside the berth to bring the vessel closer to the port berth.
The materials for preparing the reception pavilion were delivered to Vizhinjam yard yesterday. A 5,000-seat pandal is set up in front of the Vizhinjam Port Operating Office and the yard. As the pandal goes up, the port yard, berth and surroundings will be in a festive mood. There will be electric lanterns at the port construction site. Security arrangements will be tightened as people gather in large numbers. A specially trained Rapid Response Team will also be deployed.
Ship will reach open sea on 12th
Officials indicate that the ship, which started from Mundra port and passed Mangalore, will anchor at Vizhinjam offshore on the morning of the 12th. The ship anchored near the new harbour can be seen from Vizhinjam.
Eagerly waiting
Crowds of people, including locals, are waiting to see the first ship arriving at Vizhinjam. There was no access to the public since the construction of the port began as it was restricted. The locals are also waiting to see India's dream project of Vizhinjam International Port along with the arrival of the ship.
Preparations done
4 tugs were brought to Vizhinjam to bring the ship to port. Dolphin 12, 27 and 35 series tugs and Ocean Spirit have reached Vizhinjam. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the official ceremony to welcome the first ship on the 15th. Union Ports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will welcome the ship. Minister Ahmad Devarkovil will preside over the function.
