MAVELIKKARA: The members of the Haritha Karma Sena filed a complaint against a youth for flashing at them. The incident happened yesterday afternoon at Kunnam ward no 5 of Thazhakkara panchayat. The victims subjected to sexual assault are Shalini, Rekha, Asha, Mini and Rema. Sam Thomas of Salil Vilas hurled abuses at them when they came to collect plastic. He flashed at them. Haritha Karma Sena members filed a complaint on the chief minister's portal citing the issues of work being disrupted and caste-based abuse.

They kept the plastic collected from Sam Thomas’ house outside his house in a sack and then went to collect the same stuff from other places. Sam took the plastic from there and then dumped it on the roadside at Eravankara Junction. When the members came and asked Sam about the waste, he flashed at them.

Their complaint said they ran from there when he tried to attack them physically. They filed a complaint with the Mavelikkara police in the presence of panchayat secretary. After collecting the statement of one person, Sam was brought to the station. Allegations are being raised that the statements of others belonging to the Scheduled Caste category were not recorded. The Haritha Karma Sena Mavelikkara Area Committee registered a protest against the attack.
