kk

CHENNAI: New Zealand continued to enjoy their success in the ODI World Cup 2023 as they beat Afghanistan by 149 runs at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday. Batting first, New Zealand scored 288 runs for the loss of six wickets. In reply, Afghanistan were bowled out for 139 runs in 34.4 overs. The Kiwis reached this score thanks to the half-centuries of Will Young (54), Tom Latham (68) and Glenn Phillips (71). Lockie Ferguson and Mitchell Santner, who took three wickets each, destroyed Afghanistan's batting lineup.

Conway (20) and Young added 30 runs in the opening wicket. Young and Rachin Ravindra (32) then added 109. The Kiwis then found themselves in a spot of bother as they lost three wickets for just one run. However, the Kiwis managed to put up a good score on board as Phillips and Latham added 144 runs for the fifth wicket.
