Alappuzha native drowns while fishing in New Zealand; friend goes missing

A Malayali drowned in a popular tourist spot in New Zealand while another went missing in one tragic incident that happened last Wednesday. Muvattupuzha native Ferzil Babu and Alappuzha Nedumudi native Sarath were drowned in the incident. The police have recovered Sarath’s body while Ferzil is still missing.

The incident happened on Wednesday. The families were alarmed after the duo failed to return home even late into the night. Both went to a popular tourist spot after work, to do rock fishing. Vehicle, phones and shoes belonging to the two were found by the police from the shore.

Both Ferzil Babu and Sarath are settled in New Zealand with their families. It was recently that both families shifted to the central area near the sea. Sarath have a five-year-old child while Ferzil’s child is just four months old. The postmortem procedures will be conducted and later the body will be handed over to the families.
