THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Women's Commission Chairperson P Sathidevi said that the Commission has sought a report from the police on the complaint that actor and BJP leader Suresh Gopi misbehaved with a woman journalist. She also said that both the woman journalist and the Union of Working Journalists have lodged a complaint with the Women's Commission.
"The police will be instructed to conduct a thorough investigation. A public hearing will be held in Kottayam on October 31st. The problem will not end with Suresh Gopi issuing an apology. The Women's Commission is taking this matter seriously. The Commission did not voluntarily intervene because it was said that the journalist would file a complaint. The Commission has now taken action based on the complaint," Sathidevi said.
The Chairperson of the Women's Commission also warned that strong action will be taken against those who abuse the journalist on social media in support of Suresh Gopi.
Meanwhile, the Nadakkavu police registered a case against Suresh Gopi on the woman journalist's complaint. The case was registered under Section 354A. The complaint stated that Suresh Gopi insulted womanhood and behaved with bad intentions.
