Police take back body of 71-year-old handed over to relatives just before burial; incident took place in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: The body of a 71-year-old, which was handed over to the relatives, was taken back by the police just before the burial. The incident took place in Vadakara in Kozhikode. The police took the body to conduct a post-mortem. The 71-year-old had collapsed and died on the premises of the Vadakara police station.

The body has been shifted to the Vadakara District Hospital Mortuary. Nadapuram Road native Hamsa Haji collapsed and died on the premises of the Vadakara police station at around 6 pm on Monday. Haji had gone to the station to lodge a complaint.

Although Haji was immediately rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved. The body was later handed over to Haji's relatives after they informed that they do not have any complaints. The police took back the body as the preparations for burial were going on. Police said that they took back the body to make sure that no complaints arose later.
