Stray dog issue: Four corporations removed from list of parties, state govt to carry out arguments in court

sc

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has removed four corporations from Kerala from the list of parties in the stray dog issue. The action follows the demand of the state government. Kollam, Kochi, Thrissur and Kozhikode Corporations were exempted. Since it is a public issue, the government will protect their interest in court.

Despite the notice, no further action was taken from the parties, including the appointment of lawyers. Due to this, the government has pointed out that the proceedings in the Supreme Court are delayed. Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur Corporations will continue to be parties as lawyers have been appointed. Meanwhile, a bench comprising Justices JK Maheshwari and KV Viswanathan gave strict instructions to the government to complete the technical procedures, including handing over documents to the parties, within four weeks. The matter will be considered again on January 10.
