THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Railway Board has directed the Southern Railway to once again hold talks with the Kerala Rail Development Corporation on the issues related to the SilverLine project. The board also directed that the matter must be approached with urgency and the views of the Southern Railway should be conveyed as soon as possible.
On October 18, the Railway Board had written to the Southern Railway authorities asking them to discuss the matters related to K-Rail with the Kerala Rail Development Corporation. After discussions, Southern Railway submitted a report to the Railway Board.
Southern Railway had pointed out several issues related to land acquisition in its report. Following this, the Railway Board directed to hold talks once again.
SilverLine officials are saying that the direction given by the Railway Board is in favour of the project. The detailed project report of K-Rail was submitted to the Railway Board on June 17, 2020. Apart from land acquisition, the board had also found problems with alignment. Southern Railway has not yet taken a decision on the DPR of the project. It is indicated that the board has intervened after the state government intensified the pressure on the Centre.
