KOTTAYAM: A complaint has been lodged for handing over a wrong body to the relatives from the private hospital. The body was cremated without knowing it. The unusual incident took place at Mary Queen's Hospital in Kanjirapally. The wrong body of Shoshamma (86), a native of Kanjirapally, was given from the hospital.
Shoshamma died two days ago following heart attack. The body was kept in the mortuary of the hospital. Her funeral was fixed for today. When Shoshamma's relatives reached the hospital and took the body, they understood that a wrong body was given.
When the body of Shoshamma was kept in the mortuary, the body of Kamalakshiamma, a native of Chirakadavu almost of the same age was also there. The hospital authorities gave the body of Kamalakshiamma to Shoshamma's relatives. There were widespread protests. When asked for Shoshamma's body, we got an explanation from the hospital that it was taken away and cremated by another team.
It is not clear how the bodies changed. When Shoshamma's relatives protested, the police als reached the spot. The problem was solved through talks. The ashes of Shoshamma will be given to her relatives. Shoshamma's family said that there was a lapse from the relatives of Kamalakshiamma and they should have been careful while receiving the body.
