KOCHI: The Ernakulam CJM Court has sent a notice to CPM leaders asking them to appear in court in the defamation case filed by KPCC president K Sudhakaran. CPM leaders MV Govindan, PP Divya and the chief editor of Deshabhimani newspaper have been asked to appear in court on January 12, 2024. K Sudhakaran filed the defamation case on the allegations raised in connection with the POCSO case against Monson Mavunkal.

In June, MV Govindan had said in a press conference that K Sudhakaran was a co-accused in the POCSO case against Monson Mavunkal. The survivor had told the police that Sudhakaran was present at the spot when Monson sexually sexually assaulted her. According to the girl's statement, Sudhakaran did not intervene despite knowing about the sexual assault, Govindan said.

Denying the allegation, K Sudhakaran said in a press conference that he knew nothing about the incident and had no connection with the POCSO case.

"The survivor did not say that I was present at the spot. Neither did any witness give such a statement. The CPM should explain from where it got a statement which was not given by the victim. I will end my political career if the allegation against me is proven correct. The girl gave 164 confidential statements. The CPM should clarify from where it got those statements," Sudhakaran said before filing the defamation case.
