Train derails near Vallapuzha railway station; will resolve issue soon, says Railways

PALAKKAD: A passenger train has derailed at Vallapuzha in Pattambi in Palakkad. The Nilambur-Palakkad passenger train derailed today evening before reaching the Vallapuzha railway station. The train derailed after it hit a buffalo that stood on the track near the Vallapuzha railway gate. No one was injured in the accident. Following the accident, the engine skidded off the rail. Railway officials reached the spot and conducted an inspection.

Following the accident, rail traffic was disrupted on the route. Railway officials said that the issue will be resolved soon. Shoranur-Nilambur and Nilambur-Shoranur passengers have been cancelled due to the accident. Rajarani Express will depart two hours late.
