THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a warning of heavy rain in six districts of the state today. The central meteorological department has issued yellow alert in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki today. Even though there is a yellow alert, special caution should be exercised as there is a possibility of rain similar to the orange alert. Extreme caution should be exercised in hilly areas where the rain is likely to be heavy.

A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

Meantime, there is a possibility of strong winds and bad weather in the Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar, Kanyakumari coast and southwest Bay of Bengal up to 40 to 45 kmph and on some occasions up to 55 kmph, but there is no disruption to fishing in Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts, said the central meteorological department said.
