Five districts in state likely to receive rainfall in coming hours; IMD issues warning

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that five districts in the state are likely to receive rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in the coming hours.

According to the bulletin issued by the IMD after 8 pm, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall tonight. It also stated that strong winds with a speed of up to 40 km per hour are also likely in these districts.

The IMD also said that northern districts will receive isolated summer rains till Wednesday. People should exercise caution as the rain is likely to be accompanied by thunder and lightning.

The IMD stated that there is no hindrance to fishing on the Kerala coast on Saturday. Conversely, it advised fishermen against going out to sea off the shores of Karnataka and Lakshadweep.

In the next three days, the temperature will rise to 39 degrees in Palakkad district, 38 degrees in Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur districts and 37 degrees in Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Kasaragod districts.
