Expatriates in UAE should take special note of this, if not, will have to pay fine, gets one month relief

dubai

DUBAI: Dubai authorities have warned that heavy fines will be levied on vehicles plying on the roads with expired registrations. The fine will be Rs 10000 in the first phase. Along with an increase in fines other disciplinary measures will also be there.

Meantime, there was an announcement which gives relief to vehicle owners from the authorities. One month fine has been exempted on vehicles with expired registration. The registration process should be completed within this time. If the vehicle is seen on the road again without renewing the registration, it will face huge fines as well as confiscation. As the first step, the vehicle will be impounded for seven days. Along with this, there will be punitive measures including imposition of black points on the vehicle. The list of places where registration can be renewed has also been released.

There is a facility to renew registration for vehicles going to expire through website or app. Registration will be renewed immediately for those who furnish the required documents and prescribed fee.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) had recently implemented a system to issue renewed driving licenses and vehicle registrations in just two hours. There is also a system for speedy delivery of renewed licenses including those outside the country. When applying for renewal, should carry Emirates ID and driving license.
